Limpopo Correctional Services Deputy Directors arrested for corruption

Two Correctional Services Deputy Directors at the Kutama prison in Makhado, Limpopo, have been arrested for alleged corruption in the awarding of tenders.

Hawks spokesperson Matimba Maluleke says the duo allegedly connived with a friend who was awarded a tender worth millions.

One of the Deputy Directors was arrested for a similar offence in November in 2018. They’ve been warned to appear in court on June 20.

Maluleke says, “Two Deputy Directors of Ga-Senthumule Correctional Services have been arrested for tender irregularities on Wednesday. The Deputy Director at the facility allegedly awarded a tender worth over R10 million to his companion without following due procedures. His accomplice – Edith Pengson, who is a service provider – for allegedly overpricing services in return for gratification amounting to over R2 million.”
