Reading Time: 2 minutes

As the countdown begins towards the closure of election campaigns in Lesotho, Basotho nationals are gearing up to elect a government they hope will bring normality back in the country.

The biggest parties, Alliance of Democrats, All Basotho Convention and Democratic Congress an alliance with the Lesotho Congress for Democracy are wrapping up their campaigns.

The elections in the Mountain Kingdom come after a successful vote of no confidence against the incumbent Prime Minister Pakalitha Mosisili.

His tenure was marred by infighting within his coalition government and resignations. And now it’s time to gauge if all the billboards and accompanying messages will translate to votes.

This, as the electorate will be making a final decision on who will govern Lesotho. The last general elections had no outright winner as the ruling party narrowly edged out its nearest rivals.

It took seven parties to form a coalition to oust the then, former Tom Thabane’s coalition.

With almost a few hours to go before the closure of campaigns, the Basotho Nationals are hoping that this time around they will get peace and stability in the country and the government that will look after their interest as a nation.
