Lesotho former Prime Minister Tom Thabane’s All Basotho Convention is leading with 27 constituencies and 33 out 80 are now official. Basotho’s success was expected as the party enjoys support in the capital Maseru and Peri urban areas.
Deputy Prime Minister Mothetjoa Metsing has retained his Mahobong constituency. His former Secretary General now leader of the Movement for Economic Change Selibe Mochoboroane has also won his Thabana Morena.
The only woman leader of the opposition Reformed Congress of Lesotho Keketso Rantso has lost her Taung constituency. Voter turnout is ranging between 38 and 56%.
Lesotho voted barely two years after a motion of no confidence passed by the National Assembly against Mosisili. This is the country’s third election in five years.
