At least seven people have been killed in two road crashes in the Eastern Cape since the start of the long weekend.

Department of Transport spokesperson, Khuselwa Rantjie says four people were killed in a collision on the N6 between Queenstown and Jamestown, while three others died in another crash in Standford Road, in Port Elizabeth.

Rantjie says the causes of the crashes are still investigated.

“Authorities are busy with the investigations of the accidents. As the department we are appealing to all motorists to be more cautious when using our roads. We are aware that it’s the long weekend and we understand that there will be a little bit of increase in terms of road users.”
