France has compared themselves to the 1995 world champion Springbok side who were rank outsiders to beat the mighty All Blacks. The French have embraced the mantle as the underdog for Sunday’s Rugby World Cup against New Zealand in Auckland. And then they went on a charm offensive to try and win over referee, Craig Joubert.

It’s the same French side for the final that squeaked past Wales a week ago, But hopefully with a bit more fight. And while the All Blacks are not talking about the referee, the French went about wooing South Africa’s Craig Joubert..

The Springboks are out of the top three for the first time since the start of the 2007 World Cup. New Zealand remain top of the standings followed by Australia.
