Larsen impressed with first weeks of pre-season training

Chippa United coach Clinton Larsen is happy that his players followed the off-season training programme he gave them when they parted following the end of the 2018/19 season.

Larsen, who roped in former Bloemfontein Celtic goalminder Postnet Omony as Chilli Boyz goalkeeper coach, has added that he is impressed with how his players are doing at training since they started their pre-season in Port Elizabeth on Monday last week.

Larsen has revealed that the Chilli Boyz are going to spend two weeks of their preseason training in Cape Town.

He says that their camp in Cape Town has nothing to do with the fact that the Chilli Boyz are going to open the 2019/20 Absa Premiership season with an away match against newly-promoted Stellenbosch FC at the Coetzenburg Stadium in Stellenbosch on the first weekend of August.

Meanwhile, the former Celtic and Lamontville Golden Arrows coach has wished the club’s former captain Mark Mayambela well.

Mayambela was released by the Chilli Boyz on Thursday. – Report by Monwabisi Jimlongo
