President Cyril Ramaphosa says the current land issue must be viewed as an opportunity for South Africans to take the country forward.
He was addressing the Afrikanerbond centenary celebrations in Paarl, Western Cape on Thursday night.
In 1994 the Broederbond became the Afrikanerbond, and now acts as in the interest of Afrikaners who are committed to the building of a successful South Africa.
Meanwhile, the ANC recently agreed to engage further on its expropriation of land without compensation policy.
Ramaphosa says land reform would help to unite the country.
“We call on all South Africans to see the acceleration of land reform not as a threat, but as an opportunity. If we approach this as an opportunity, like we did when we ended apartheid, we did not see it as a threat. On this issue of land, rather than seeing it as a threat and raising alarm bells, let us see it as an opportunity of being able to sit down with fellow South Africans and dialogue, so that we find solutions that can work and can take our country forward.”
