Eskom has confirmed the resignation of Mark Lamberti as the power utility’s Board Director with immediate effect.

Eskom’s spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe says Lamberti took a decision to leave the Eskom Board following a high court judgment which found him guilty after he referred to a former Imperial Holdings employee as “a female employment equity candidate”.

Lamberti is the CEO of Imperial Holdings.

Phasiwe says Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan has accepted Lamberti’s resignation.

“Mr Lamberti wrote a letter to the Minister of Public Enterprises Mr Pravin Gordhan indicating to the minster that he would like to leave Eskom, at least the Board of Eskom because of the issues he’s facing in the media in relation of the allegations of sexism and racism. Mr Lamberti is no longer with Eskom with effect from today.”
