Lakay looking forward to an opportunity against Celtic

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Cape Town City will face Bloemfontein Celtic on Thursday night, when the two clubs meet at the Dr Molemela Stadium in an Absa Premiership match.

City are set to be missing a few key players, including striker Kermit Erasmus, who picked up a knock in training. However Erasmus’ absence could open the door for Bafana Bafana international Fagrie Lakay, who joined City at the start of the season.

The 22-year-old, who missed out on the recent CAF Under-23 Championships, but will still have Olympic ambitions, says joining City was the best move for him.

He is now raring to go under new coach Jan Olde Riekerink, who replaced Benni McCarthy earlier this month.

Lakay, who has had two starts and made three sub appearances so far this season, is looking forward to getting another opportunity against Celtic.

City are currently 13th on the table with 11 points, while Celtic are 7th, however they are just two points ahead, with 13. – Report by Rob Delport
