Ladysmith Black Mambazo clinched its 5th Grammy for its album Shaka Zulu Revisited: 30th Anniversary Collection.

The all-male group of vocalists known for its traditional Zulu style of harmonies known as isicathamiya, won the Best World Music Album award at the 60th Grammy Awards in New York.

The group came to global attention when they collaborated with Paul Simon on Graceland in the mid 80s which also won the coveted Grammy Album of the Year.

The group decided to re-record the Shaka Zulu album in tribute to their founder Joseph Shabalala who has since retired and handed over control of the group to his sons.

The Recording Academy has long acknowledged the groups talents, with Ladysmith Black Mambazo nominated a total of 19 times, winning 5.

The group was also nominated in a separate category for Children’s Album but did not win.
