John Mavundla (50) from Mpumalanga has been in the taxi industry since 1994.

Mavundla says since then, he’s lost more than he’s gained.  While he’s happy that taxi wars have declined, he’s sad that taxi operating permits no longer work.

“I’ve been in the taxi industry for 25 years.  But, I haven’t seen anything that government’s done for us.  We thought we would get subsidies like other companies, but we haven’t.  Since I’ve been in this industry, I haven’t benefited.  I’m still poor.
