President of the ANC Women’s league (ANCWL) Bathabile Dlamini and KwaZulu-Natal Health MEC  Sbongiseni Dhlomo have visited Durban’s Addington Hospital to speak to mothers who delivered babies on Tuesday morning.

This is part of the African National Congress’  (ANC) 107th anniversary celebrations.

Three girls and one boy were delivered after dawn. The mothers have expressed their joy about receiving unexpected gifts from the politicians.

One of the first mothers to give birth, 32-year-old Nosipho Dlamini decided to name her baby Siko Luka Khongolose. Khongolose is the Zulu word for ANC.

The mother of three boys says she is very grateful. “We are so happy – even though I didn’t know this ANC day, but now that I know I will always celebrate this day. We are very happy that our son was born on this day. Lucky for me, his brother is here so he can see how important it is to study and become something big. As you can see we have got the MEC and everything.”
