KZN man due in court for renting out weapons

A 44-year-old man suspected of renting out weapons and ammunition to criminals in KwaZulu-Natal is on Monday due to appear in the Camperdown Magistrate’s Court, west of Durban.

Police spokesperson Thembeka Mbhele says the man was arrested on Friday.

He was arrested at his homestead in the Isithumba Reserve at Inchanga for the possession of illegal firearms.

Police seized a revolver, an AK47 rifle, an R-4 rifle, six rifle magazines and 387 rounds of assorted ammunition.

The weapons will be sent for ballistic testing to ascertain if they were used in any criminal activity.
