The African National Congress (ANC) in KwaZulu-Natal has told the media in Durban that it has extended the leave of the eThekwini Mayor Zandile Gumede.

The PEC held an extended meeting which started at the weekend to discuss the future of Gumede.

The meeting was held to discuss the outcome of the report which looked at whether Gumede should continue as mayor or not. Gumede has been on leave for the past two months on the ANC’s instruction.

This followed her arrest on fraud and corruption charges linked to a tender. Gumede is out on bail of R50 000.
