The African National Congress (ANC) KwaZulu-Natal provincial Executive Committee meeting is under way in Mpangeni on the north coast.

Among issues on the agenda is the fate of eThekwini Mayor Zandile Gumede who is out on R50 000 bail.

Gumede together with some senior officials from the municipality are facing fraud and corruption charges in connection with the refuse collection tender worth millions of Rand.

The meeting is also believed to have discussed dates for regional conferences that were postponed leading up to this year’s general elections. These include the troubled Moses Mabhida region.
