Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini has welcomed thousands of members of the Nazareth Baptist Church- also known as the Shembe church at his eNyokeni Royal Palace in Nongoma in northern KwaZulu-Natal.
The Nazarites spent the weekend celebrating the fifth Sabbath and Dance Royal Ceremony.
The ceremonies are seen as an effort to reconcile the two groups.
A few years ago, the King was prevented from entering the eBuhleni Palace to visit late former Shembe Prophet Vimbeni Shembe, when he was gravely ill.
Prince Thulani of the Zulu Royal Household says, “It is the present leader Mduduzi Shembe who took the initiative to reconcile with the King – that happened in 2013.”
