Hundreds of supporters of Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyattas’ have held demonstrations outside the Supreme Court in Nairobi to protests the ruling which annulled the August election.
They have accused the court of stealing their electoral victory. The protests come amid three petitions filed with the Judicial Service Commission seeking the removal of the Chief Justice.
Waving placards and chanting slogans against the Chief Justice, the demonstrators accused the judges of having stolen their victory.
They said the court should instead have ordered for a recount of the votes.
Opposition leader Raila Odinga filed after President Uhuru Kenyatta was declared winner of the August 8 election indicating that the electoral commission’s electronic tallying system was hacked to tilt the victory in favour of Kenyatta. The court has announced that it will deliver its full judgment on why it annulled the elections on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, a court registrar says the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has received three petitions seeking the removal of Chief Justice David Maraga, Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu and a Supreme Court Judge Isaac Lenaola.
They are among the four judges who ruled for the annulment of the polls.
