Mamelodi Sundowns coach, Pitso “Jingles” Mosimane says the club’s veteran captain, Hlompho Kekana, remains one of the underrated players locally.

Kekana, who turns 34 later this month, has now annexed six league titles in his illustrious football career, four of which were at Sundowns.

Kekana has received three nominations in the PSL Awards, which includes the coveted Footballer of the Year accolade. He has made record-extending 50 starts for Sundowns in all competitions since the beginning of the campaign.

Mosimane says Kekana deserves much more credit.

“If I win something I will dedicate it to Hlompho because you can never be nominated for five years in a row and you have it (league) six times and you are always been pipped by a midfielder who pops one year and the next year you don’t see the same midfielder who won it against him. He’s forever there and I think he’s played 25 or 26, at 33 same tempo, same attitude. I mean this guy deserves a credit hey,” explains Mosimane.
