President Cyril Ramaphosa has vowed to ensure that two million young people are employed in the next 10 years. He was speaking during his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) in Parliament.

Currently, unemployment stands at over 27%.

Young people constitute over 50% of the unemployed population.

Ramaphosa, elaborating on some of the key priorities for his administration over the next decade, says, “Economic transformation and job creation is at the top of our priorities. Education, skills and health, is the second; consolidating the social wage through reliable and quality basic services, is another important priority. Special integration, human settlements, and improving local government, is another important priority. Social cohesion, and safe communities, is a key priority as well,” says Ramaphosa.
