Reading Time: < 1 minute

Banyana Banyana coach Desiree Ellis says that JVW and Ma Indies will add value to the South African Football Association Women’s National League next season.

The two teams were promoted to the elite league after they both reached the final. Janine Van Wyk’s team beat Ma Indies 2-0 in the final of the Sasol League National Play-offs in Tsakane on Sunday.

There were many current and former national teams in the league especially from JVW including Nompumelo Nyandeni, Mamello Makhabane Amanda Dlamini and Shamase twins Thubelihle and Spumelele. Ellis says the quality in the play-offs was good.

There was a huge gap between the three top teams JVW, Ma Indies and Sunflower FC. Ellis says other teams need to work hard to catch up.

JVW and Ma Indies will join twelve other teams in the SAFA League. Their coach Ciaro Picco is confident they will do well in that league.

Mamelodi Sundowns is on top of the Women’s League with Tshwane University of Technology in the second position.

Player of the tournament and Banyana Banyana player Lebohang Ramalepe is aware of the challenge ahead. – Report by Vincent Sitsula
