The June 16 Foundation has given government’s 2013 Youth month theme the thumbs up. The theme that cabinet has approved is: “Working Together for Youth Development and a Drug Free South Africa.” Deputy Chairperson of the June 16 Foundation, Dan Montsitsi says: “The program that Government is taking is very relevant. It is the type of programme that we are taking but our programme is one that ensures that learning takes place. When you look at our programme is correlates with that of the government. Our own programme isn’t different to what government wants and our aims.” Montsitsi explained that the foundation will set up a programme that will attack the scourge of drugs at High Schools, particularly Soweto schools. It will be aimed more particularly at the legacy schools which are the schools that participated in the initial 1976 demonstrations. The programme looks to install a culture of learning in the youth. The project will assist in getting rid of drugs and alcohol within society.
