JMPD official loses second bid to retain her job

Reading Time: < 1 minute

A Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) official has lost a second bid to retain her job. In 2016, an SABC investigation uncovered how the clerk at the Langlaagte testing station colluded with fraudsters and sold car papers illegally.

She was first dismissed for theft following a disciplinary hearing. An appeal at the bargaining council found her to be a compulsive liar. Over the past year, 20 corrupt JMPD officials have been dismissed.

In the latest attempt to keep her job, the bargaining council found the JMPD official to be a compulsive liar and that her credibility was questioned from the word go.

JMPD’s Wayne Minaar says 65 cases of misconduct and corruption are still pending at six of Johannesburg’s testing stations.
