Igesund on coaches, academy and funding

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Former Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund says coaches must be given a long time to implement their philosophies in their teams.

He was reacting after three coaches were fired by their teams few weeks ago.

Igesund has coached several PSL teams and is one of the most successful local coaches in the PSL era.

He has been taking a break from the PSL to focus on his academy to develop young players. The academy is based in Cape Town and has been going on for the past 18 months.

The former Moroka Swallows and Mamelodi Sundowns coach says with his business partner, they are looking to buy a status in the Glad Africa Championship to give the academy players an opportunity.

Projects of this nature requires a lot of funding. But Igesund says his partner is the one who is funding the project.
