The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) has wrapped up its nationwide public education and awareness campaign in Kimberley.

ICASA has been interacting with communities to educate them about the services it offers in regulating the communications industry.

ICASA national spokesperson Paseka Malika says it’s important to educate communities on their rights and responsibilities related to Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) matters.

“It’s to make people aware about the services ICASA is rendering within the country. The other thing that we also trying to achieve is the fact that we’re trying to engage the consumers so that they understand their rights and their responsibilities when it comes to the consumption of electronic communication services. So and the other thing that we also trying to engage consumers just for them to also understand our complaints handling services and some of the licences that we issue as the regulator,” says Malika.
