I will easily beat Mokwena in a boxing match – McCarthy

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Cape Town City coach Benni McCarthy says he will easily win a boxing match against Orlando Pirates coach Rulani Mokwena. He said this after their 3-3 draw at Orlando Stadium on Saturday.

There was an incident at the end of the match when the two coaches had a small tiff. McCarthy clarifies the matter.

McCarthy claimed that Mokwena was wasting time when his team was leading with few minutes to go. But City equalised late in the match to salvage the point.

Mokwena has been the interim coach for the past seven matches winning only one match against Chippa United.

They bowed out of the champions league and also the MTN8 under his tutelage. However, McCarthy says Mokwena has the best job in the league.

City is in tenth position after seven matches with one victory, five draws and one defeat. McCarthy says they will fight to win the league.

Thabo Nodada scored a brilliant goal which gave City the lead early in the match. He has been in sublime form since he came back from a lengthy lay odd due to injury. McCarthy says he can easily play for a big team in Europe.

Nodada has also been selected for the national team before the setback. He says his dream is to play overseas. – Report by Vincent Sitsula
