Hundreds march to parliament for Marijuana legalisation

Legalise marijuana, that’s the call made by hundreds of people who marched to Parliament on Saturday. The annual event aims to force authorities to legalise cannabis.

Those in favour describe it as a culture, a right recognised and protected by the Constitution.

“They made this suit entirely out of dagga. There isn’t a single stitch on here that is cotton or other material. This is dagga my friend. I’m wearing it,” said organiser, Johannes Berkhout.

Others claim cannabis can be used for medicinal purposes and say its high time that it be legalised. If word from the organisers is anything to go by, cannabis can also be a fashion creation.

Marchers have vowed to continue to fight for their cause, until the joint houses of Parliament pass legislation to recognise cannabis.
