Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Department of Home Affairs says it will only reveal its findings once it has verified the information following Thursday’s raid at the offices of ANN7 television station in Midrand, north of Johannesburg.

The Department is investigating allegations that some of ANN7’s employees from India do not have the necessary work permits.

The Television Station,  launched in 2013 was owned by the embattled Gupta family, before former government spokesperson Mzwanele Manyi assumed ownership.

The Gupta family is currently embroiled in allegations of state capture.

Home Affairs Spokesperson Mava Scott says the finding will be released soon.

“As part of its mandate, our inspectorate of the Department undertakes regular inspection on the basis of information provided to them, either by third parties or any other source. Which information would necessitate a thorough investigation, including in loco inspection, like it happened… to verify the information related to visas of certain individuals that are employed by the organisation concerned. Once verified, the Department will then release the findings of the inspection.”
