Preparations are under way for the funeral of icon Winnie Madikizela-Mandela. Government has confirmed that a number of high-profile international dignitaries will attend the funeral at Orlando Stadium on Saturday April 14.
Madikizela-Mandela’s funeral is expected to be the biggest after those of her former ex-husband Nelson Mandela and the slain SA Communist Party (SACP) general-secretary Chris Hani.
Presidential spokesperson Khusela Diko has conveyed government’s appreciation for all the messages of condolences from people at home and abroad.
Diko says Mama Mandela was loved not only in South Africa but throughout the world.
“That has been shown in the support that has come from all over the world and the continent.”
“The President has said this is befitting of her stature as a struggle stalwart who gave up her life for the liberation of the South African people,” says Diko.
