Heavy snowfall and extreme weather conditions are expected in some parts of the Eastern Cape as wintry conditions sweep across the province. The South African Weather Services has warned of heavy snowfall around the southern parts of the Drakensberg Mountains.
Port Elizabeth based weather forecaster Tennielle Ahshene says wet road conditions in the passes are expected and motorists need to be alert at all times.
“We have large snowfalls reported about the east area and around about the southern parts of the Drakensberg of the Eastern Cape. We are expecting another cold front making way to the Eastern Cape Saturday the 14th of July and we will start experiencing the snowfalls on the other mountain peaks within the Eastern Cape region towards the western area and towards Graaf Reinett.”
