The Hawks have on Thursday conducted a search and seizure operation at the North West Department of Agriculture.

Computers and documents were seized during the operation.

The department was allegedly used to share about 13 government farms among politicians and officials. Hawks spokesperson, Hangwani Mulaudzi says they are probing allegations of money laundering, corruption and the siphoning of public funds.

“The documentations were seized and computers that were also downloaded on site, some we are taking back to Pretoria, which we are hoping to be finalised soon.”

“The team will then be able to be given a space to do their work. If there are those cases that we believe to finalise quickly out of the picture we are facing, we will be very happy to take them to court, this are sophisticated and time consuming investigations,” Mulaudzi says.
