Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has told the High Level Meeting of the Great Lakes region at Kampala that it is possible for the region to defeat rebel groups.
High on the agenda was the Democratic Republic of Congo and how the region will ensure peace and security in the country as they head to elections.
The DRC will vote for a new president on the 23rd of December.
The country continues to face serious challenges, with rebel forces operating mostly in the eastern DRC.
Museveni says the region can learn from countries such as Uganda which have defeated rebel groups.
