About 980 police officers have been fired for corruption in Gauteng since April this year. That’s according to Gauteng police commissioner Deliwe De Lange.
She was speaking at an event to welcome 1 166 newly graduated police constables to the police service in Mayfair – Johannesburg.
She’s warned that no corrupt cops will be tolerated and has appealed to the public to report any wrongdoing
“This issue of corruption is bothering me a lot. Since I was a provincial commissioner I have dismissed a lot of members who were involved in corruption, and yes – as young as they are, they might be tempted outside. But they need to know that I have declared a zero tolerance to corruption.”
