President Cyril Ramaphosa says government will focus on a number of priorities, including economic transformation, job creation, education, skills and health in the next decade. This follows calls for clear plans aimed at fixing South Africa’s economy.

Ramaphosa was speaking in Parliament during his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) as head of the sixth administration.

“This means that we need to prioritise. We need to focus on those actions that will have the greatest impact, actions that will catalyse faster movement forward, both in the immediate term and over the next 10 years. It is worth noting that the Medium-Term Strategic Framework for the last five years had more than 1 100 indicators by which we were to measure progress in the implementation of the NDP. Now is the time to focus on implementation. Our people are saying talking time is over now we want action. We want implementation and we want it now.”

South Africans have, however, labelled Ramaphosa’s SONA speech as  a dream.
