The scourge of women and child abuse has been one of the country’s biggest struggles for many centuries. Twenty-five years into democracy, the scourge continues. Women are continuously encouraged to speak out against abuse so that perpetrators can be brought to book.
After being repeatedly raped, 29-year-old Fikile Ngwazi will never experience justice since she is deaf.
Ngwazi’s family feels they never enjoyed the fruits of democracy as the justice system continues to fail sexual abuse victims with no voice.
