Reading Time: < 1 minute

The government is considering amending the Liquor Bill which could result in a ban on alcohol advertisements from 6 am to 10 pm.

They are also considering raising the minimum drinking age from 18 to 21 years old. This is in a bid to fight alcohol abuse.

Speaking on Morning Live, a legal expert at a law firm, Hogan Lovells, Ian Jacobsberg unpacked the possible amendment of the Liquor Bill.

“I think it’s part of the Health Minister’s general program to cut down or to control different kinds of consumption that he’s identified as either socially detrimental or detrimental to health”, states Jacobsberg.

But what impact will these amendments have on the already struggling economy and broadcasters and the advertising industry?
