Metro police are directing traffic in the South of Johannesburg where several roads, including the Golden Highway, have been closed by protest action.
Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) spokesperson Edna Mamonyane says protesters have barricaded the roads with burning tyres, rocks and rubble and urges motorists to use the N12 as an alternative route.
“The people have blockaded Golden highway, close to Ennerdale, as well as the R550 and R557 they have been blockaded as well. Metro police are on scene redirecting the traffic. So to all the motorists who will be in that vicinity please just follow instructions of officers as they will be trying to divert you to use alternative routes so that you don’t get caught in the protests,” explains Mamonyane.
