Glebelands Hostel’s most feared suspects to apply for bail

One of the most feared suspects allegedly involved in the Glebelands Hostel killings will apply for bail on Thursday in the uMlazi Magistrate court, south of Durban.

Mondli Mthethwa has been on the police’s most-wanted list for years. He is the eighth suspect arrested in connection with criminal activities at the notorious Glebelands hostel in uMlazi.

Wearing his black T-shirt and Khakhi pants, Mthethwa stood motionless in the dock when he appeared in court.

The magistrate informed him about the development of further charges against him that include attempted murder and murder.

Initially, Mthethwa was charged with illegal possession of firearm and possession of ammunition after he was caught in a police tip off.

Mthethwa’s alleged victims include 30-year-old Tholakele Ngcangatha who was killed in cold blood at the hostel.

Mthethwa is expected to make his bail application along with his co-accused on Thursday morning.
