Gift of the Givers offers to drill boreholes in W Cape

Relief organisation, Gift of the Givers, says they will look at drilling more boreholes in drought stricken parts of the Western Cape and other provinces.

This comes after the organisation successfully drilled a borehole in Beaufort West close to the empty Gamka Dam, ensuring a supply of one-point-two million litres of water to the town per day. Gift of the Givers Director, Imtiaz Sooliman, lists other places where they might do the same.

“There are requirements in Caledon and in other parts of the Western Cape which we will look at. There are also requirements in the Northern Cape; we have requests in the North West. There are various areas of the country that require boreholes. Some corporates have already come to us and they’ve pointed specific areas in the Western Cape region where they want us to go and do boreholes. We are looking at that but unfortunately; we cannot do anything until we sort out the one in Beaufort West,” says Sooliman.
