Ghana fans upbeat ahead of Niger clash

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Group B favourites Ghana take on Niger in Port Elizabeth tonight. A win for the Black Stars will see them remain in the city for the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations. One Ghana supporter says, “In 1996 we were robbed by South Africa, this year we are going to win the Cup.” “Niger is not any match, it’s not a strong match because Niger is not a strong side, we will score two goals,” says another Ghana supporter. Ghana is followed by Mali on three points, the Democratic Republic of the Congo on two and Niger on one point. But the Black Stars remain favourites.
Niger’s supporters have a different idea.
“I bet Ghana will go home like Morocco, Angola and Algeria. I bet that Niger will score one-nil,” says Niger supporter. Congo and Mali will face off against each other in the other Group B match in Durban.
Depending on what happens in Durban, the Black Stars might not even need to win to top their group. Ghana is hoping to end a 31 year wait for the African title. They have won the competition on four occasions.
