Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Gauteng government is discussing ways of curbing the effects of climate change.

It’s holding a Climate Change Indaba with over 300 delegates attending in Midrand, north of Johannesburg.

The meeting will come up with ways of raising public awareness on climate change.

Gauteng Economic, Agriculture and Rural Development Department’s Nhlakanipho Kontwana says all people must work together to make Gauteng a low carbon society.

He says what is clear is that the are challenges in the province.

“We are experiencing flash floods, veld fires, temperatures are rising and not long ago we had drought. What we need to do now is come up with systems to make sure that we are able to respond to these disasters,” says Kontwana.
