The Gauteng Health and Education Departments have been allocated the biggest chunk of the budget during Finance MEC Barbara Creecy’s tabling of the Mid-Term Budget in the provincial legislature.

The embattled Health Department is allocated an adjustment budget of R1.7 rand with education receiving over R940 million.

The Health Department is struggling to pay suppliers and is also facing medico legal claims amounting to billions of rand.

Creecy has, however, lamented the state of the health department calling it a major risk to the public purse.

Partnerships between the Gauteng government and business are expected to yield thousands of new jobs.

Creecy says the first five mega human settlements projects have attracted close to R30 billion in investment and is expected to create 50 000 jobs.

She also says the Tshepo One Million Program has created 40 000 new beneficiaries in 2017 and one of these projects is called Action Labs.
