Hard pressed motorists have much to celebrate as they ring in the New Year, as fuel prices will again decrease next Wednesday.
93 and 95 octane petrol will drop by between R1.22 and R1.23 cents a litre and diesel is going down by R 1,53 a litre.
The Department of Energy says the decrease is mainly due to drop in international oil prices. Brent crude oil has seen a significant decrease since the third quarter of 2018.
Petrol has seen huge increases this year, and government had to intervene to give temporary relief as fuel prices hit record high levels.
The fuel increases negatively affected consumers spending in the third quarter of 2017.
Analysts expect international oil prices to continue to decrease in 2019.
