Motorists can expect some relief at the fuel pumps next week.
The petrol price is expected to go down next Wednesday by 35 cents a litre, diesel by 46 cents and paraffin by 23 cents a litre.
The lower oil price and the stronger rand are the main contributing factors for the decrease.
Economists say the decreases could help bring down the inflation rate towards 4%… And this could influence the Reserve bank’s decision to cut interest rates.
But the price relief will be short lived, as the fuel price is expected to increase next month because of the 52 cent levies announced in the budget speech in January.
