Free State residents urged to save water

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Free State Department of Water and Sanitation has appealed to residents to use water sparingly as dam levels in the province continue to decline due to the recent heatwave.

Provincial Head of Water and Sanitation Dr Tseliso Ntili says little rainfall has been received and that has not improved dam levels.

Ntili says the department will continue to monitor the dam levels in the province

“It is a big concern and we are still noticing that these drops of water in some dams in the province are really below 20% and we are still looking at the dams even around Bloemfontein like Tiepoort still below 10% and Kalkfontein below 10%. When we go towards Gariep dams and others we still find that it’s about 50%.”
