The fraud and corruption case against Free State MECs Mathabo Leeto and Benny Malakoane has been postponed to the 30th of July.

The two appeared briefly in the High Court in Bloemfontein on Friday morning together with seven other accused of corruption amounting to more than R30-million.

The charges stem from their tenure in the Matjhabeng Municipality in Welkom.

Leeto, one of the front-runners to lead the Free State ANC was the executive mayor, while Malakoane was municipal manager. They are accused of failing to follow proper tendering procedures and receiving kickbacks when they procured telecommunication systems for the municipality.
