The case of 17 police officers, who are alleged to have fraudulently inflated invoices, and attached to the East London Port Of Entry in the Eastern Cape has been postponed to May 23, 2018.

It’s alleged that the suspects who are aged between 30 and 55 inflated invoices for accommodation when they were deployed to police operations in Aliwal North between December 2016 and January 2017.

Spokesperson for the National Police Commissioner, Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo says, “Investigations were conducted. Seventeen members were identified and subsequently arrested. They appeared in the East London Magistrate’s court where they were each released on a R1 000 bail…”

“The national commissioner has expressed his disappointment with the fact that so many members are alleged to have committed fraud and corruption. However, he indicated that he is happy with the fact that justice has been served and these members are being brought to book,” adds Naidoo.
