Four suspects aged between 25 and 27 years have been arrested for killing a police officer at Steadville in Ladysmith in the KwaZulu-Natal midlands.

Police spokesperson Brenda Muridili says the police officer was stabbed in the neck when he alighted from his vehicle at a tavern in the area.

“It is alleged that the sergeant was at the local liquor outlet at White city at Steadville at about 1 am. When he alighted from his vehicle and was approached by a man who allegedly stabbed him on the neck. The member was rushed to hospital where he passed away. Four suspects aged between 26 and 27 have been arrested for the murder and they will be appearing in court soon.”
