Former State Security Minister Bongani Bongo has been found not guilty of trying to bribe a Parliamentary Eskom Inquiry Evidence Leader by the Western Cape High Court.
Judge John Hlophe says the state has failed to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt.
He says the evidence of the state’s star witness Advocate Ntuthuzelo Vanara was not credible as it was contradicted by other witnesses.
Bongo says his acquittal is proof that the case was part of a political conspiracy.
He says he plans to sue the NPA, Vanara and other state witnesses.
