With the May 8th general elections looming, the Eastern Cape’s former chairperson of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), Themba Wele, has defected to the newly-formed political party – the African Transformation Movement (ATM).

This has happened days after former ANC heavyweight, Thandiswa Marawu left the ruling party to join the ATM.

ATM provincial spokesperson, Luthando Mtyobile says the party is expecting more followers from Buffalo City and Amathole regions in the coming weeks.

Mtyobile says, “We have seen in recent past different leaders coming from different political parties including the EFF coming to join the African Transformation Movement. They have lost trust in their former parties and now see hope and the vehicle to change the Eastern Cape for better through the African Transformation Movement, only ATM can take the Eastern Cape province forward.
