1. Department of Home Affairs has extended operating hours
In support of the general elections the Department of Home Affairs has extended its working hours to allow voters collect identity documents they had applied for or to apply for IDs or temporary identity certificates.
On 6 and 7 May the department will open from 8am to 7pm while on the Election Day it will open from 7am to 9pm.

2. Voting stations will operate from 7am to 9pm
All voters must note that the stations will operate from 7am to 9pm on May 08, however those who are in the queue at 9pm will be allowed to vote.

3. Double check that you are registered to vote
To avoid disappointments, check your registration status, current voting station and ward.

4. Valid SA ID
Make sure that you don’t forget your valid SA ID, it can be the smart card or the bar-coded ID book. If you don’t have either, visit your nearest Home Affairs for a temporary ID.
